As quoted by The Evening Standard, Eddie Howe has given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a glowing endorsement for the work he has done at Manchester United.

What did he say?

Following a difficult start to the campaign, the Red Devils have bounced back in style in recent games, and look to be finding their feet once more.

Solskjaer’s men halted Liverpool’s flawless run in the Premier League with a battling draw at Old Trafford, before racking up three consecutive away victories in quick succession.

And now, Bournemouth boss Howe has given his seal of approval to what the Norwegian has achieved at United, and insisted he has done an “excellent job” so far.

He said: “There’s positive signs for them. They’ve got quality players, a very good manager who has given them real stability. He’s working to the future to build a new Manchester United. I imagine it is (hard under that level of pressure). I think he’s handled himself really well and done an excellent job to this point.

“Certainly looking at their last few games, which I have in great detail, I think they have played very well. The game against Chelsea was a very strong performance. They’ll be pleased with their attacking play and defensive structures.”

For someone like Howe to deliver an encouraging verdict on Solskjaer’s time at Old Trafford, should act as a ringing endorsement for what the Norwegian has done. The pressure and the spotlight at United is second-to-none in the Premier League, and with his only previous managerial experience including Cardiff and Molde, the step-up to taking the reins at one of English football’s most dominant sides would have been intimidating.

And with speculation surrounding his long-term future at the club appearing to intensity earlier this season, the writing may have been on the wall. But, Solskjaer has kept cool, calm and composed in the face of adversity, and looks to have guided his stumbling United side around the corner. A win against Howe’s Bournemouth on Saturday lunch-time would firmly give them the platform to keep improving.

وواصل: “هذه النتيجة جيدة بالنسبة لنا قبل مباراة الإياب، لأننا نعلم أن أنفيلد دائمًا ملعب من الصعب اللعب فيه”.

وأردف: “الكل قدم أداءً جيدًا حقًا، لأن ليفربول فريق صعب وكان علينا العمل بجد خلال الـ90 دقيقة، إنهم فريق قوي، ونحن بهذه النتيجة لم نحسم أي شيء بعد”.

وأتبع: “نحن نثق في جميع لاعبينا، في شهر فبراير الماضي تعرضنا لتسع إصابات، ولكن الجميع كان مُستعدًا عندما كنا بحاجة إليهم، انتصارنا اليوم مهم للغاية قبل مباراة السبت المقبل ضد برشلونة”.

وأتم تصريحاته قائلًا: “كنت اعتقدت أنني سأقوم بالمزيد من التصديات بسبب القوة التي يتمتع بها ليفربول في المُقدمة، لكننا دافعنا بشكل جيد، إذا فعلنا ذلك في مباراة الإياب سأكون سعيدًا، ولكن أعتقد أن الأمر سيكون مختلفًا”.

يلتقي فريق جالطة سراي مساء اليوم السبت مع خصمه هاتاي سبور، في بطولة الدوري التركي.

وتُقام المباراة في ملعب أنطاكيا أتاتورك، في الجولة الثانية والثلاثين من البطولة.

ويحتل جالطة سراي حاليًا المركز الثاني في جدول الدوري التركي برصيد 61 نقطة، بينما يتواجد هاتاي سبور في المركز السابع برصيد 46 نقطة.

Wolves’ run of poor form in the Premier League continued at the hands of Chelsea with the visitors coming out on top with a 5-2 victory at Molineux.

Frank Lampard’s side picked up just their second win of the season, a back-to-back away one at that too as the Wanderers continue to struggle in the league.

The scenes pre-game were undoubtedly a mirror image of what was to come – the Wolves faithful at that point were unknowing about how the game would eventually pan out, but they were hopeful especially with Chelsea facing a critical absence in defence with Emerson Palmieri’s injury – he was averaging the highest rating of any other Blues player before the match at 7.57.

Nuno Santo made four changes to the side that lost to Everton before the international break – one of which was forced due to the red card Willy Boly picked up at Goodison Park, so in came Jesus Vallejo while Romain Saiss also dropped into defence.

The man of the moment, Tammy Abraham, netted three goals as well as an own goal as he tore apart Wolves’ rotated backline.

All three of his Chelsea goals came within 21 minutes of each other, beginning in the 34th minute to make it seven for the season – tied with Sergio Aguero for most goals scored this campaign.

Saiss certainly felt the strain of coming up against the 21-year-old, who has been in red hot form in the last three matches.

His dejected look was merely one that the whole squad would have been feeling as the hunt for a first Premier League victory this season rumbles on.

The game featured a number of young stars, in part thanks to Chelsea’s transfer ban, but Morgan Gibbs-White did have a moment for his former Young Lions midfield partner Mason Mount.

Mount earned his first England cap last week after being called up to Gareth Southgate’s squad for qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo while Gibbs-White played in the Under-21’s Euro qualifiers.

Lampard came away as the happier of the two managers – all of Chelsea’s goals this season have come from academy graduates.

That’s Abraham, Mount and Fikayo Tomori, the latter two he managed at Derby County last season.

Many may have forgotten about the 20-year-old Martin Odegaard who is still officially a Real Madrid player.

But currently, he plays his football on loan at Real Sociedad and he has impressed his new team so much that they have named him their player of the month, which is not a small achievement by any stretch of the imagination.

We still don’t know what exactly will happen with this talented young player in the future but it seems that many Real Madrid fans like the kid and want to give him a shot in the first team at Los Blancos.

What a night for Liverpool in Istanbul!

After an extremely entertaining 90 minutes and extra-time at Besiktas Park, nothing could separate the two champions of Europe, Liverpool as the Champions League winners and Chelsea as Europa League winners respectively.

When all is said and done, it was the goalkeeper Adrian who had a dream full debut for the Reds by saving that decisive penalty to give his team the win and the trophy in the process.

Ian Rush, Liverpool’s icon, quickly jumped to Instagram to shower him with praise and welcome him to the team.

Apart from writing a welcome message for Adrian, he also pointed out that this was Liverpool’s fourth win in the competition as well.

But the spotlight was very much on Alisson’s back-up who pulled through when the team needed him the most.

It wouldn’t be a new day in the week without Aston Villa being linked to yet another goalkeeper – Jack Butland and Tom Heaton are just two of the many names.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus shot-stopper Mattia Perin has interest from the Premier League newcomers with sporting director Fabio Paratici rumoured to be in England to finalise a deal.

The news has caused mixed opinion amongst the Villa fanbase, though.

Perin’s move to Portuguese giants Benfica fell through last week after complications with his medical – the club stated that the player would face around four months on the sidelines.

The two-time Italy international has endured an injury-plagued career and has only made nine appearances at the Serie A champions since joining them last summer from Genoa in an initial €12m (£10.6m) move.

The potential transfer has left some Villa supporters split with two individuals believing he could be the new Pierluigi Gollini – who the club signed from Hellas Verona in the summer of 2016.

He made just 20 appearances in the Championship permanently joining Atalanta following a loan spell.

One member of the Villa Park crowd took a swipe at Perin’s injury history claiming he is made of glass but would be class if he stayed fit, whilst another supporter played down the link by questioning whether the club would sign a goalkeeper who has already failed a medical.

Bournemouth midfielder Ryan Fraser has apparently revealed to friends he wants to move to Arsenal as they prepare a bid for him, as per Football Insider.

The Gunners may not be the only ones vying for his signature, but if rumours are correct then the Emirates is the flying Scotsman’s most likely destination this summer.

Unai Emery has apparently conducted extensive scouting throughout the recently completed season to ensure that he is the right man for the job to increase creativity, which has been seriously lacking from our perspective with £350,000 per week Mesut Ozil just not cutting it, having produced a nauseatingly low three assists in all competitions (11 below his tally in 2017/18).

While Fraser was undoubtedly one of the Cherries’ standout players during the recently completed 2018/19 campaign, registering seven goals and 14 assists, which was beaten only by Chelsea’s wing-wizard Eden Hazard, we find ourselves asking the question: is a move to Arsenal a bridge too far? After all, it was only last season that he managed a paltry five goals and three assists in 26 Premier League games.

Of course, his 18/19 goals and assists tally speaks for itself but we’re concerned that he won’t be able to make the transition from being a big fish in a small pond to the opposite; a simple cog in a far larger machine. The climate is far different at this level of football; it’s hostile and unforgiving; it’s global scrutiny compared to UK-based criticism.

Calling him a one season wonder would perhaps be too much but with the Gunners’ transfer budget previously reported by the Daily Mail to be a fairly low £45m, making a big move for a man who has only enjoyed one stellar campaign in a career that started almost ten years ago may not be the wisest idea.

Admittedly, it may be a little unfair to doubt him without giving him a chance, but it doesn’t hurt to exercise a little caution to avoid risk and disappointment.
