Harry Kane's ferocious strike clocked at incredible speed as Bayern Munich star bags brilliant hat-trick against Stuttgart

Bayern Munich star Harry Kane's latest strike in the club's 5-0 win over Stuttgart in the Bundesliga was clocked at an incredible speed. Kane was on the pitch for a little over 30 minutes but it was enough time for him to score yet another hat-trick this season as the Bavarian side extended their unbeaten league run to 13 matches and are 11 points clear at the top of the table.

Kane's stunning strike in Bayern's thumping win

Kane did not feature in Vincent Kompany's starting lineup as Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson started up front. The England captain was only introduced in the 61st minute. It took just five minutes to open his scoring. Kane received a pass near the centre circle and made a solo run down the middle. The striker then launched a pile driver from distance as the ball flew into the goal like a rocket.

Bayern Munich later confirmed on social media that Kane's effort was clocked at 128 km/h from 25 yards away from the goal. Kane later doubled his tally from the penalty spot in the 80th minute, before completing his treble from Michael Olise's assist.

AdvertisementGetty Images SportWhy did Kane start against Stuttgart?

After starring for Bayern, Kane revealed why he was left on the bench during the crucial game, as he told reporters: "It's something I'm not used to, but I did it a couple of times this season. The boss wanted to keep me fresh and save energy. I came on after 60 minutes with a couple of other guys and we were able to exploit the space and get the goals. We had a tough battle in the cup mid-week and today we faced one of the best teams in the league away, but we looked stronger in the last half an hour and punished them."

Kompany then added: "I had this change in mind before the game started. We have 4 games in 11 days. If I start Harry every game and he plays 90 minutes, I'll get questions about why he always plays. Every time we played Stuttgart, we've always grown stronger as the game progressed. I felt the spaces would be bigger when Harry came on. It was a good moment for him to come. And he did what he does."

Will Kane return to Spurs?

Amid rumours of Kane exiting the Allianz Arena next summer, his former club Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly shown interest in bringing back one of their finest players of all time.

Kane, however, has been warned not to return to a former club as Spurs icon Stephen Carr said: "He left and even the fans in the end understood that he needed to leave in order to win something. He deserved to win something, which he has now. I’m sure he will win more this year. He had unbelievable success there [Spurs], is a legend there, and I think he is still looked at like that.

"He scores goals regardless but whether he would have that same success, I don’t know. It would be great if he did go back, but I think he will be looking at it differently. After leaving Tottenham, giving up on the English goal record – he would have caught [Alan] Shearer the way he was going – he’s not going to get younger, he does adjust his game, but I get the feeling he will stay there or go somewhere else in Europe. He might want another challenge, rather than going back to Tottenham."

Explaining Home Run Derby Rules for 2025 and Looking Back on History of Change

The 39th edition of the Home Run Derby takes place on Monday, as eight of baseball’s best sluggers compete in the Derby on the eve of the All-Star Game.

This year, Braves first baseman Matt Olson, Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh, Nationals outfielder James Wood, Twins outfielder Byron Buxton, Rays infielder Junior Caminero, Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz, Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr., and Athletics designated hitter Brent Rooker will compete in the derby.

Before the 2025 Home Run Derby begins, here's a look at the rules and format.

Home Run Derby Format

The current Home Run Derby format is a three round contest featuring a first round, semifinals, and finals.

During the first round, all eight hitters will have either three minutes or 40 pitches to hit as many home runs as they can. After a player’s three minutes or 40 pitches are up, they start a bonus period, which will continue until a player records three outs. In the Home Run Derby, any hit that does not go for a home run is considered an "out." Additionally, if a player hits a home run of at least 425 feet, they can extend their bonus period until they record a fourth out.

The four players that record the most home runs in the first round will advance to the semifinals. If there is a tie, whichever player hit the longest home run will advance.

In the semifinals, the players get seeded by the amount of home runs they hit. The No. 1 seed, who hit the most home runs in the first round, will take on the No. 4 seed. The No. 2 seed will face the No. 3 seed. Hitters will have two minutes or 27 pitches to hit as many home runs as they can, and then the player with the most home runs of each matchup will advance to the finals.

Once again in the finals, the two remaining hitters will have two minutes or 27 pitches to hit as many runs as they can. Whoever hits the most homers becomes the Home Run Derby champion.

There is no carryover between rounds. If there is a tie during either the semifinals or finals, a 60 second "swing off" will be used to break the tie and determine who advances.

How Has the Home Run Derby Changed Over the Years?

Since the first Home Run Derby took place 40 years ago, there have multiple changes to the rules and format of the competition. The most recent changes took place just last year. Prior to 2024, the entire Home Run Derby took on a bracket format and each competitor entered the contest seeded from 1-8. Now, only the final two rounds follow that format. Additionally, the Home Run Derby previously did have a time limit, but not a pitches limit, which got added in 2024.

In the earliest years of the Home Run Derby, the event took on a two-inning format which saw each player receive five outs per inning. This format allowed for ties, which occurred in both 1986 and 1989. In 1986, Darryl Strawberry and Walter Joyner tied for the win, and in 1989, Eric Davis and Rubén Sierra tied as Home Run Derby champions.

The amount of players competing in the Home Run Derby also varied through the early years of the competition. The first Home Run Derby saw ten players compete, while the next two years featured six and then four competitors. The numbers of players partaking varied until 2000, when it was decided that four players from each league would compete in the Derby.

18-year-old Spurs talent is so good that he could steal the #7 from Simons

Tottenham Hotspur took the lead in short time against Aston Villa at the weekend, and Thomas Frank’s clear impetus on fast starts is an exciting addition indeed.

But Spurs failed to make that early advantage count as Unai Emery’s Villa gained momentum and left with the spoils in the Premier League. Tottenham’s wretched home form drags on.

Evident is the deep creative issue the Lilywhites are struggling to uproot at the moment. But there’s much room for optimism, with James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski working hard to return from their long-term injuries.

Such midfielders are the playmaking stars in north London, true, but Xavi Simons was signed as a difference-maker, and he’s failing to inspire thus far.

Xavi Simons' Spurs career so far

Simons, 22, joined Tottenham from RB Leipzig this summer for around £51m. The Netherlands international has long been regarded among the brightest talents of his age bracket, and he posted 22 goals and 24 assists across two seasons in Germany.

But the English game is a tough one, and across eight fixtures in a Tottenham shirt so far, Simons has yet to open his account, assisting once, on his debut against West Ham United.

He’s a tenacious little player but needs to get up to speed with the pace and rigorousness of the Premier League, and find his footing from a creative standpoint too.

Considering the injured midfielders working hard to return could threaten Simons’ starting berth in the coming months, there’s a case to be made that Frank will utilise the one-time Barcelona academy star from a wider berth.

But with Mikey Moore currently out on loan with Rangers, that spot may well be taken in the years to come.

The Spurs teenager coming for Mikey Moore's shirt number

Moore is still only 18, but already he has featured 21 times for Tottenham’s senior set-up, scoring once and assisting two goals. Scouts have lauded him for his “world-class” potential, and he had a big fan in Ange Postecoglou.

Last season, en route to Tottenham’s Europa League triumph, the teenager bagged his first senior goal against IF Elfsborg, drawing all the plaudits.

Hailed as a “superstar” of a prospect by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Moore’s dynamic approach to his game will serve him well as his physical development continues, and though he’s struggled on loan with Rangers this term, that is more of a reflection of the sinking ship that is Ibrox, embroiled in so many problems this season.

The England U19 captain, with seven goals from 13 games, operates across the frontline, but the left channel is ostensibly the position he is most naturally suited to, with his electric pace and ability to leave defenders munching dust lending itself to the role.

And, while he has yet to establish himself as a prolific force on the senior stage, Moore’s staggering returns on the development scene have created quite the noise around his name. In the U18 Premier League, for example, the diminutive forward posted 17 goals and 12 assists across just 22 appearances.

Already, the fleet-footed talent ranks among the top 16% of attacking midfielders and wingers across Europe’s top five leagues this season for assists per 90, data courtesy of FBref, and this natural-born creativity is something Tottenham could clearly add to their ranks right now, especially with Simons flattering to deceive.

Simons is an immensely talented attacking midfielder, and he will surely come good, but Moore is a one-of-a-kind talent, striking that balance between entertaining, showpiece football and the intelligent and calculated approach needed to steer through the many grittier moments of a campaign.

Youth scout Jacek Kulig has hailed Moore as “one of the most talented players of his generation in Europe”, and there’s no question that Spurs expect him to play a pivotal role under Frank’s wing in the years to come.

Last season, former Spurs boss Postecoglou had said he’s “very mature for a 17-year-old”, able to grasp the different facets of multi-positional play while retaining prolificness at youth level.

Maddison has even made the rather bold claim of Moore being Neymar-esque when carrying the ball down the wing, artful and elegant but also in full control.

This current campaign will teach him a thing or two about adversity, with Rangers having won just one of their opening eight Premiership matches, languishing some 13 points behind surprise league leaders Hearts.

Of course, there’s nothing to say that Simons and Moore couldn’t operate in harmony in the Tottenham attack, but, as acknowledged already, Kulusevski and Maddison are currently recovering on the sidelines.

The success of Spurs’ Swedish star when shuffled into a central creative berth underscores the size of the task in front of Simons, who was criticised by football.london for his ‘poor’ performance against Aston Villa at the weekend, hit with a 5/10 match rating.

All told, Frank has still made a steady start to life at the Tottenham helm, but he has several creases to iron out, and if Simons continues to struggle in his creative role, Moore might just return and find a pathway toward the starting line-up.

He has already been billed as a teenage talent with the potential to feature on the Premier League billboards, and that will soon be put to the test under Frank’s leadership.

The new Dele Alli: Frank must unleash Spurs' £97m-rated "game changer"

Ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with Aston Villa on Sunday, Thomas Frank must start his new “game changer” centrally as he’s the new Dele Alli.

Everton's "revelation" could become the biggest loser from Grealish's rise

Everton’s 2025/26 campaign has begun in quietly impressive fashion.

Under David Moyes, the Toffees look more disciplined, cohesive, and self-assured than they have in years.

The club sits eighth in the Premier League with three wins and eleven points, having beaten Wolves, Brighton, and most recently Crystal Palace, where a dramatic 93rd-minute winner from Jack Grealish ended the visitors’ 19-match unbeaten run.

It’s been a steady rise for a side that finished 13th last season after a late-season surge under Moyes.

The Scot has instilled the same resilience and structure that defined his first spell at Goodison Park, combining tactical discipline with freedom in attack.

Everton’s football has become more pragmatic, but it’s also more purposeful.

Moyes’ entire side seems revitalised – the pressing is sharper, transitions quicker, and confidence higher.

The upcoming trip to Manchester City will provide a true test of their progress, but the early signs suggest Everton have rediscovered an identity built on energy, hard work, and belief.

Grealish’s resurgence under Moyes

Few stories in the Premier League have been as satisfying as Grealish’s revival.

Once a peripheral figure at Manchester City – limited to just 721 minutes last season, starting only seven matches – the 30-year-old has looked reborn since trading sky blue for royal blue.

After struggling with hip and groin injuries that sidelined him for 17 games over the past two seasons, Grealish is finally playing with freedom again.

Under Moyes, he has been encouraged to express himself but with structure – the blend of tactical discipline and creative liberty that once made him one of Europe’s most sought-after wide players.

In just seven games for Everton this season, he has already registered one goal and four assists in 557 minutes – almost matching his entire output from last season.

Moyes’ trust has allowed him to thrive; Grealish is central to everything good about Everton’s attack, drifting infield to dictate tempo and combining effectively with Beto and new striker Thierno Barry.

The data reinforces his improvement.

In his most productive campaign – City’s treble-winning 2022/23 season – Grealish averaged 6.27 progressive carries, 4.39 progressive passes, and 4.55 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes.

This season, his numbers are trending in a similar direction, showing that he is once again influencing matches both creatively and through his ball progression.

His ball-carrying remains elite, with 42 carries and 33.9 touches in the attacking third per 90, while his 84.1% pass completion underlines how safely he maintains possession in high-pressure areas.

Add to that an increased work rate – 1.10 tackles and 0.75 blocks per 90 – and you have a player fully committed to Moyes’ philosophy.

Thomas Tuchel’s persistent England squad snubs might have stung, but Grealish’s response has been emphatic.

He looks sharp, decisive, and fit – a player rediscovering the joy of football.

For Moyes, he’s become the emotional core of a rejuvenated team; for Everton, he’s the statement signing that signals a new era of ambition.

Why Dewsbury-Hall could be a victim of Grealish's form

While all eyes are on Grealish’s renaissance, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is quietly piecing together a redemption story of his own at Goodison Park – though his place in Everton’s best XI isn’t guaranteed.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who joined from Chelsea in the summer for £28m, has been one of Moyes’ success stories so far.

After a difficult spell at Stamford Bridge – where he was largely restricted to Conference League cameos and late Premier League substitutions, despite featuring in the Club World Cup final win over PSG – Dewsbury-Hall has rediscovered the confidence and control that once made him a “revelation” at Leicester, as per Brendan Rodgers.

He’s been impressive statistically, too: seven appearances in all competitions, one goal, one assist, and standout underlying numbers.

He ranks in the 74th percentile for pass completion (80.4%), 82nd percentile for progressive passes (5.46 per 90), and 87th percentile for tackles (1.90 per 90).

Defensively, he’s been immense – sitting in the 98th percentile for clearances (1.54 per 90) among midfielders.

Those figures underline his all-round profile: a player who can dictate tempo, carry through pressure, and win the ball back when required.

Yet, for all his efficiency and reliability, there’s a growing sense that Dewsbury-Hall may not be part of Everton’s most balanced attacking setup moving forward.

His partnership with Grealish has been a curious one – aesthetically pleasing at times, but frustrating in key moments.

Both players are ball-dominant, preferring to carry and create rather than shoot or make penetrative runs beyond the defence.

That overlap in style can sometimes slow Everton’s rhythm, particularly when facing deep or compact opposition.

Moyes has experimented with Iliman Ndiaye cutting in from the left and Tyler Dibling operating from the right, a combination that offers more directness and goal threat around Grealish, who’s thriving in a free role as a No.10.

In that setup, Dewsbury-Hall’s inclusion becomes less certain – not because of form, but because of fit.

Everton’s attack looked its most fluid when Ndiaye’s willingness to shoot complemented Grealish’s creativity, with Dibling stretching play on the opposite flank.

In that configuration, Moyes gains the verticality and unpredictability that Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish together sometimes lack.

There’s no questioning Dewsbury-Hall’s value – his tactical intelligence and work rate have been crucial in solidifying Everton’s midfield.

But as Moyes refines his system, he may have to decide between control and cutting edge.

For now, Dewsbury-Hall remains a key cog in the Toffees’ evolution, yet the competition for places — and Grealish’s growing influence — could soon push him from automatic starter to strategic option.

Everton star who's a "difficult watch" is on borrowed time due to Grealish

Everton boss Moyes may continue to reshape his side over the coming transfer windows.

Blue Jays Dugout Was So Mad Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Didn't Push for the Cycle in Game 3

Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. just missed out on what would have been the second cycle in Major League Baseball postseason history Wednesday.

In Game 3 of the American League Championship Series against the Mariners, Toronto's offense broke out when it was needed the most, partly in thanks to a four-hit night from Guerrero. He smacked a 406-foot home run to center field in the fifth inning, which moved him just a triple shy of the cycle with plenty of game left.

He was intentionally walked in the sixth, but saw an opportunity in the eighth to achieve the rare feat. Guerrero poked an 83-mph curveball in the middle of the zone to the right-field gap and dug for extra bases. He rounded first and booked it for second, but stopped on second base instead of pushing for the triple, which would've completed the cycle. He appeared to take too big of a step as he rounded first, which put him a bit off balance and may have halted his opportunity for a triple.

Once the 26-year-old first baseman stood up on second, he knew he missed an opportunity, but was happy with another extra-base hit. The Fox broadcast perfectly panned to some of his Blue Jays teammates in the dugout who looked disappointed that the cycle didn't come to fruition.

As the hardest piece of the cycle, you can't fault Guerrero for not reaching third on the play, but his eighth-inning hit may have been the best opportunity possible.

Guerrero was 4-for-4 with a walk on the night, recording his only RBI via a solo homer in the fifth. The Blue Jays' offense exploded at the right time, and it led the charge behind the 13–4 win against the Mariners in Wednesday's Game 3. Seattle still leads the series 2–1 with Game 4 slated for Thursday night at T-Mobile Park.

Who hit for the only cycle in MLB postseason history?

Red Sox utilityman Brock Holt hit for the only cycle in MLB postseason history, doing so in Game 3 of the AL Division Series against the Yankees in 2018. Holt's playoff cycle was part of Boston's 16–1 stomping of New York before they won the series in Game 4. He hit for the cycle three years earlier in the regular season against the Braves.

Yadier Molina to Serve As Guest Cardinals Coach During Series vs. Cubs

For one weekend only, legendary St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina will return to the team that made him famous.

Molina is set to serve as a guest coach for the Cardinals' games against the Chicago Cubs on Friday and Saturday, St. Louis manager Oli Marmol told reporters Friday via Katie Woo of . The 43-year-old Bayamon, P.R., native retired from Major League Baseball after the 2022 season.

“He reached out to (president of baseball operations and John Mozeliak) and me, asking what we thought about him being in uniform,” Marmol told "‘My response was an easy one: Absolutely.”

Molina played 19 seasons with the Cardinals, in which he became one of the most beloved players in franchise history. He made 10 All-Star teams and won the World Series twice, claiming nine Gold Gloves and a Silver Slugger.

"Anytime you get the chance to have someone like Yadi around your players, you take it,” Marmol said. “It’s a no-brainer. The experience, the leadership, the presence he brings—it impacts everyone."

St. Louis, which is currently 58–58 and 5.5 games out of a National League wild-card spot, could use the help.

"Chomping at the bit" – £150,000-a-week Arsenal star "can't wait" to play Chelsea

Noni Madueke scored his first Arsenal goal on Wednesday and challenged the Gunners to “keep pushing boundaries” ahead of their weekend showdown against Chelsea.

Arsenal cruise past Bayern as Madueke returns with a bang

Madueke returned from two months out with a knee injury to score the winning goal in what eventually turned into a comfortable 3-1 win over Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

The 23-year-old, who joined from Chelsea in the summer amid some opposition – and a petition against his signing – from Arsenal fans, replaced the injured Leandro Trossard, as the Gunners continue to struggle to keep all of their forwards fit at once.

Bayern teenager Lennart Karl had cancelled out Jurrien Timber’s opener for the hosts before Madueke tucked in a cross from Mikel Merino after half-time.

Gabriel Martinelli, also back from a spell out, capitalised on goalkeeper Manuel Neuer’s error to hit the third as the Premier League leaders maintained their 100 per cent record in Europe and hit the top of the Champions League table.

Arteta now has an even better duo than Gabriel & Saliba at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has created an Arsenal team full of incredible partnerships, including one better than Saliba & Gabriel.

1 ByJack Salveson Holmes Nov 27, 2025

“It was a top night, a great night,” Madueke told Arsenal’s official media channels. “A Champions League night, so it was perfect to get my first goal for the club and for the win on top. It’s a perfect night.

“I had a long injury, it was difficult, but now I’ve made up for it. It’s amazing. I can’t really say much more, just amazing.

“It’s massive, it’s massive what we’re producing at the moment, not just in the Champions League but our domestic form, and we need to continue at this level and just keep it going.

“The level we’re playing at right now is incredible and we need to try and keep adapting, keep pushing it, keep pushing boundaries and that’s the only way we can stay there.”

Madueke "can't wait" to play against Chelsea

The big games keep coming for Arsenal, who face a Premier League trip to second-placed Chelsea on Sunday. Defeat at Stamford Bridge would trim their lead at the top of the table to just three points, with Enzo Maresca’s side looking win their fourth consecutive top flight match.

Madueke is looking forward to the trip to his old stomping ground, having left west London in the summer for a fee of up to £52m.

“You go eight weeks without the thing you love the most in the world,” said the winger, who is now one of Arsenal’s highest earners on £150,000-a-week.

“So you are chomping at the bit to just be on the pitch as much as possible. I can’t wait.”

Chelsea have not beaten Arsenal in any competition since a 2-0 victory at the Emirates in August 2021, while each of the last two meetings at Stamford Bridge have ended in score draws.
