Exciting Double Crystal Palace Transfer Update Emerges

Crystal Palace are now looking to sign a winger and a centre forward to replace Wilfried Zaha this summer, according to a fresh transfer update.

Have Crystal Palace signed players this summer?

The Eagles ended up steering themselves away from the Premier League relegation zone last season, with Roy Hodgson coming in and doing a dependable job after the departure of Patrick Vieira, who disappointed on the whole.

It is important that another relegation battle isn't on the cards in 2023/24, however, with improved performances required from the off, and new signings will be required for that to happen.

The need for fresh faces to be brought in has only been heightened by the exit of Zaha, with the club's legendary winger departing for Turkish giants Galatasaray earlier in the summer. The Ivorian could be a huge loss, having been a talisman for so many years, and filling the void left by him is essential.

Time is slowly running out for Palace to make signings, though, with just over a month of the transfer window remaining, so it is vital that the club begin to act in the market, having only signed Jefferson Lerma so far this summer.

Crystal Palace'sWilfriedZaha

What's that latest on potential Crystal Palace signings?

According to Football Insider, the Eagles are "working on deals" to snap up both a winger and a central attacking option in the coming weeks, with Hodgson "not happy" with the current attacking options at his disposal.

More firepower is believed to be needed, especially with the influential Zaha no longer around, and it is now a case of finding the right options to bring in. Leeds United pair Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto are mentioned as possible additions in the report, although the club are "continuing to cast a wide net" across Europe, rather than solely focusing on the Premier League.

It is plain to see that further attacking reinforcements are needed at Selhurst Park this summer – that was the case even before Zaha moved to Galatasaray, but it is now even clearer. Last season, Palace only scored 40 goals in 38 Premier League matches, which is a modest return, and increasing that tally will only aid their chances to avoiding more trouble towards the bottom of the table.

Summerville and Gnonto are two exciting young options who now have Premier League experience, so they represent intriguing targets, with the latter arguably having the higher ceiling as a player. He has already won 12 caps for an Italian side littered with household names, scoring four goals last season.

Seeing Zaha move on was a sad moment for many Palace supporters, considering what a hero he has been during two separate spells at the club, but he is now in his 30s, and it is time for a new era to get underway in south London.

Bringing in a couple of a young attackers players would be an exciting next step in the Eagles' future, at a time when the likes of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze are already bright talents with big futures in the game, hopefully remaining at the club for years to come.

Leeds Make Loan Approach For 26-Year-Old PL Defender

Leeds United are interested in signing Everton centre-back on loan Mason Holgate this summer and have made an approach over a potential deal, according to a new transfer update.

How old is Mason Holgate?

The Englishman, who is now 26 years of age, has been a solid servant for the Blues over an extended period of time now, having initially broken into the team as a youngster who had arrived from Barnsley in the summer of 2015, making his debut back in August 2016.

Holgate has now racked up 149 appearances for Everton down the years, scoring and assisting five times apiece in that time, and proving capable of playing at both centre-back and right-back. He is also a six-time capped England Under-21 international, highlighting how highly thought of he was during his younger days coming through.

The defender found playing time hard to come by at Goodison Park last season, however, with only five Premier League starts coming his way, and just another three appearances arriving from the substitutes' bench. Others were clearly preferred to him at the back and it appears as though Sean Dyche doesn't see him as a key man moving forward, which could possibly lead to a move away this summer.

Holgate's current deal expires in the summer of 2025, and although a permanent move away may not come to fruition so soon, a temporary exit could be on the cards in the coming weeks.

Could Leeds sign Mason Holgate?

According to Football Insider, Leeds have enquired over the Everton man's availability on loan this summer, but they aren't alone in showing an interest in him. Both Sheffield United and Southampton are also mentioned in the report as potential clubs he could join, with Dyche informing him that he can move on for the 2023/24 campaign.

With Leeds preparing for life back in the Championship, Holgate could be a really shrewd signing at Elland Road, even if he isn't most spectacular of players when it comes to making headlines and producing match-winning performances. He has plenty of experience at the highest level, however, and is the type of player who could make Whites more resolute at the back – something that is badly needed after leaking goals at an alarming rate last season.

Holgate has been described as "Mr. Dependable" by journalist Sam Carroll in the past, as well as being hailed as "brilliant" and "different class" by former England international Peter Crouch. When he did play last season, he did a solid job, averaging 3.3 clearances and 1.4 tackles per game in the Premier League, and he would surely jump at the opportunity to be a regular starter at another club, especially considering he is in the peak years of his career.

New Leeds boss Daniel Farke could see the Everton defender as someone who can add more experience and leadership to a squad alongside someone like Karl Darlow.

The Newcastle goalkeeper is poised to join Leeds for £400,000 and could well take the first-choice spot at Elland Road from Illan Meslier. Therefore, Holgate could also arrive and help look to spearhead the club's Championship promotion charge over the next nine months or so, as they look to return to the top flight in no time at all.

Sunil Joshi named Bangladesh's spin-bowling coach

Former India left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi has been appointed Bangladesh’s spin-bowling coach. Joshi, who has signed a short-term contract, arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday, joined the side ahead of the two-Test series against Australia and began working with the bowlers.Joshi’s appointment comes as a surprise after the BCB had announced on July 30 that former Australia legspinner Stuart MacGill was their first choice for the spin-bowling coach’s role. But the talks between MacGill and the BCB did not materialise, which led the board to pursue Joshi, who had been part of discussions for the role earlier this year.In February, when Bangladesh toured India for a one-off Test, Anil Kumble, the then India coach, had suggested Joshi’s name to some board directors who then spoke to him in Hyderabad, but Joshi’s appointment did not materialise at the time.Joshi made his international debut in 1996 and took 110 wickets in a career spanning 15 Tests and 69 ODIs. He ended his first-class career in 2011 with 615 wickets in 160 matches. He subsequently coached domestic teams Hyderabad in 2011, Jammu & Kashmir in 2014, and Assam in 2016. He had also served as Oman’s spin-bowling coach in the World Twenty20 in India in 2016.

Tottenham: Spurs Pull Plug On Major Signing For Ange

Tottenham Hotspur have pulled the plug on signing Galatasary defender Victor Nelsson with Ange Postecoglou's side "no longer in talks" this summer.

Who will Tottenham sign?

Spurs are attempting to back Postecoglou with more fresh faces, but with just two more games of their pre-season remaining and the start of 2023/2024 just next month, they will want to make more headway soon.

The north Londoners have seen goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, midfielder James Maddison and winger Manor Solomon join the club this window – following on from permanent deals for Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski.

Next on chairman Daniel Levy's transfer agenda is the signing of a two star centre-backs, and there have been a succession of defenders linked.

Postecoglou has admitted that is something the club are currently looking at, coming after Spurs conceded a pretty woeful 63 league goals last campaign.

"That's definitely our intention, absolutely," said Postecoglou when asked about signing new defenders.

"We've been working on it for a while and we'll definitely try to get it done as quickly as possible.

"I don't think it's any secret about some of the areas we needed to strengthen. Some of it I identified early on. The goalkeeper was one and central defence is another.

"In terms of the other boys, we've got a big squad but my view is I wanted to bring them along and just work with them, get some clarity in my head and give clarity to them."

Tottenham have been seriously interested and in talks for Micky van de Ven of Wolfsburg, but reports from The Athletic this morning suggest a deal could now be off.

However, rhe long list of alternative centre-backs linked with a move to N17 includes Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen, Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo, Barcelona'a Clement Lenglet, Juventus defender Gleison Bremer and Nelsson.

On the latter defender, there were reports of Spurs nearing a deal to sign the 24-year-old, but journalist Charlie Gordon of The Daily Express has a contrary update.

Taking to Twitter, Gordon says Tottenham are "no longer in talks" to sign Nelsson – with Postecoglou's side seemingly giving up on a deal.

"Update on Victor Nelsson," wrote the reporter.

"Told that Tottenham are no longer in talks for the Galatasaray CB, dismissing recent reports of an agreement between the clubs."

There is little background as to why Spurs have backed away, which we find bizarre considering his contract possesses an affordable £21 million release clause.

How good is Victor Nelsson?

The Denmark international, who featured at last year's 2022 World Cup in Qatar, has been a star player for Galatasary at club level.

Boasting some impressive stats from last season's Turkish Super Lig campaign, Nelsson made more blocks per 90 and won more battles in the air than any other Galatasary player (WhoScored).

An undroppable under manager Okan Buruk, Nelsson featured over more league minutes than any of his outfield teammates last campaign – surely highlighting his importance to Galatasary and quality as a player.

The former FC Copenhagen ace has been called one the "star player" of Galatasary by sections of the Turkish press, making Spurs' decision to back off a rather curious one.

Perhaps, and this is just speculation, they edging towards an agreement for other targets like Lenglet or Tapsoba.

Chelsea: Reporter hints at "turning point" with Caicedo

Chelsea will continue to fight until the 'bitter end' to try and bring Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo to Stamford Bridge, according to journalist Rudy Galetti.

Is Moises Caicedo headed for Chelsea this window?

As per BBC Sport, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has recently spoken about Caicedo in an interview on the Seagulls' pre-season tour of the United States and revealed that he is planning for a future with the Ecuador international in his plans as things stand.

De Zerbi stated: "At the moment Moises is a Brighton player. I spoke with [club owner] Tony Bloom and he told me if the conditions don't change, Moises stays with us. For me it should be great news because it is difficult to find another player like Moises. If Moises leaves we have to find another player of the same level because we deserve to play the next season with the same [quality]."

Last week, Brighton rejected an offer worth £70 million for the £60k-a-week ace, who they believe is worth closer to £100 million and in the same conversation as new Arsenal signing Declan Rice amid his £105 million move to the Emirates, as per Sky Sports.

In conversation with The Transfer Show on Sky Sports News' YouTube channel, reporter Dharmesh Sheth indicated that Caicedo has a 'gentleman's agreement' to leave Brighton this window if the price is right, as he said: "One source has told me earlier on today that Caicedo feels he's got some sort of gentlemen's agreement with Brighton to be able to leave in this transfer window, provided the price is right for Brighton & Hove Albion. Brighton are not commenting on that."

Last term, Caicedo was in an inspired vein of form for Brighton and made 43 appearances in all competitions, registering a solitary goal and an assist, as per Transfermarkt.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Galetti has signalled that the next few days could be 'decisive' concerning negotiations between Brighton, Chelsea and Caicedo.

Galetti said: "Mauricio Pochettino's wish to have him in for the pre-season has not been fulfilled, but Chelsea will still try to please their manager by negotiating to the bitter end with Brighton & Hove Albion.

"Also this week, again, will be decisive for the future of Caicedo, who already has an agreement with Chelsea and continues to push for the move.

"The contact is constant between the two clubs and at any moment there could be a turning point, positive or negative."

Who else are Chelsea keen on this window?

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Chelsea are keen to land Crystal Palace star Michael Olise, as he stated: "Chelsea and Manchester City have both Michael Olise in their list. Understand there’s release clause into his contract — around £35m. Both clubs are waiting for clarity about his conditions as he picked up injury last month."

On the same token, Italian journalist Romano has also revealed that Chelsea are 'advancing' in their attempts to sign Montpellier striker Elye Wahi. He will then be loaned out to continue his development in 2023/24.

Ajax midfielderMohammed Kudus.

The Evening Standard report that Ajax's Mohammed Kudus, Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga and Southampton youngster Romeo Lavia are all candidates to bolster the Blues' midfield.

Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be open to buying two players in the engine room this summer as he gets to work at Stamford Bridge ahead of the new campaign kicking into gear.

Powell strolls to hundred in untaxing warm-up

West Indies’ batsmen looked in good order and Kieran Powell struck a century as a less-than-testing warm-up against a weakened Derbyshire side ended in a tame draw

It was interesting , in the first innings the ball didn’t swing and in the second innings it did a bit so I guess at different points in the game you can expect the ball to react differently.”I’m not sure how much to read into that if the conditions at Edgbaston are similar to here so I guess it’s just something for us to have in the back of our minds that these things could happen but we still have to go in with an open mind.”The tourists went into the final day with a lead of 306 and they batted through the first two sessions with Powell and Chase taking the opportunity to further boost their confidence ahead of this week’s opening day/night Test.Powell had missed out on a hundred by eight runs in the first innings but the 27-year-old left hander became the fourth West Indian in the match to score a century before he retired hurt with cramp. He drove and pulled Tom Taylor for three consecutive fours as he accelerated to three figures off only 102 balls after Jermaine Blackwood had been well caught at extra cover for 29.Jason Holder fell to left-arm spinner Matt Sonczak just before lunch and Derbyshire took three wickets in four overs before Chase asserted himself to pass 50 for the fourth consecutive innings.Shane Dowrich edged a drive at Sonczak and Shai Hope failed to clear wide mid on before Kyle was caught at slip two balls later. But that was Derbyshire’s last success as Chase and Kemar Roach shared an unbroken stand of 104 in 29 overs before Holder gave his bowlers a work-out under the floodlights. After his problems on the second day when he bowled 20 no balls in nine overs, all eyes were on Gabriel who needed a decent spell ahead of the Test. But the big Trinidadian again struggled for rhythm, overstepping three times in his fourth over when he was also hit for two fours by Ben Slater and the tourists had turned to spin from both ends by the time the match petered out in stalemate.

Man United: CBS reporter drops big takeover update from "sources"

Journalist Ben Jacobs claims there is a "mixed narrative" surrounding the Manchester United takeover process and there remains a lack of clarity over the situation at Old Trafford.

What's the latest on Man United's takeover?

Having been put up for sale by the Glazers in November 2022, a potential takeover at Man United has moved at a seemingly glacial speed.

There are two horses in the race to own United: Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS and Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani.

There has been much toing and froing regarding a potential takeover with several bids submitted by both parties, while Sheikh Jassim is now considered the favourite to buy the club outright.

However, there is a feeling that the Glazers may not even sell the club come the end of this process and the longer the takeover rumbles on the more those fears grow.

Journalist Jacobs has offered a big update regarding the takeover process, suggesting that there is still some distance between the Glazers and the buying parties and that, despite a potential deal slowly progressing, there remains a lack of clarity regarding the process.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jacobs said: "There's a mixed narrative about why we're not seemingly getting any movement. So, from the group's perspective, they feel like they're waiting for communication from the Glazers and the Raine Group.

"But sources close to the seller still indicate that the delays are group-triggered. In other words, they require more information to get to the point of being ready to sign. By ready to sign, I mean both groups have undertaken tasks and responsibilities traditionally associated with a preferred bidder. Both are being asked to get six feet from the finishing line to be ready to undertake the completion process.

"To get there, it requires a lot of legal and logistical box ticks. So, the groups imply that they are ready, and the Glazers must decide."

Jacobs added: “But sources close to the selling side are implying the delays are down to the fact that the groups are not as ready as they perhaps are intimating they are. This is normal within a takeover to have these two different sides.

"But it's also an indication that nothing is paused at this point. It's quietly ticking along behind the scenes. And as we've had throughout the process, the Glazers simply need to show their hands. If they don't, the situation won't be any clearer.”

The lack of communication and transparency regarding the takeover will undoubtedly unnerve United supporters who are desperate for the Glazers to sell the club.

It also impacts United's business during the transfer window with a lack of clarity surrounding funds and available budget, making Erik ten Hag's life more difficult in the market.

Despite question marks over finances, the Red Devils have still managed to remain active in the market as they look to build on the success Ten Hag helped provide last season.

Who are Man United signing?

Having confirmed the signings of Andre Onana, Mason Mount and a surprise deal for former player Jonny Evans, the takeover process has not entirely disrupted Ten Hag's business.

However, there is more to do for the Red Devils, who are keen on bringing in a new number nine and a centre-back this summer.

United's striker search is yet to fully take shape with most discussions at preliminary stages at present, but it appears that Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund is the priority target at the moment.

It's thought that United would need to cough up a fee close to €100m for the Denmark international, something the Red Devils seem unwilling to do. However, some negotiation could potentially bring that fee down with Hojlund eager to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, their hunt for defensive reinforcements has led them to Monaco's Axel Disasi, who appears the priority target for Ten Hag at centre-back, but they will have to fend off Newcastle United who are also keen on the Frenchman.

Tottenham In "Talks" To Land £34m-rated Van de Ven Partner

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be considering a move for Barcelona's Franck Kessie, with Ange Postecoglou seeking midfield reinforcement amid Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's expected summer exit.

What's the latest on Kessie to Tottenham?

According to journalist Sean Walsh, the Lilywhites are currently holding discussions with the La Liga giants regarding a potential swoop for the Ivory Coast international, as well as former loanee, Clement Lenglet.

Writing on Twitter, the respected insider revealed: "Tottenham weighing up moves for Franck Kessie and Clement Lenglet. Talks taken place with Barcelona, separate deals. Kessie a long-term target, Lenglet expected to be backup option for Edmond Tapsoba/Micky van de Ven."

Read the latest Tottenham transfer news HERE…

In his attached piece for 90min, Walsh went on to add that the north Londoners have 'made enquiries' to Barca amid the prospect of adding Kessie to their ranks, with the 26-year-old – who is the subject of interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia as well as Juventus – believed to be open to an exit.

How good is Franck Kessie?

This interest in the former AC Milan sensation has come amid parallel reports that Spurs are closing in on a deal for Wolfsburg centre-back, Micky van de Ven, with it looking as if Postecoglou could be set to dramatically alter the spine of his team.

Micky van de Ven

With the aforementioned Hojbjerg seemingly on his way to Atletico Madrid, it could well be Kessie – who is valued at €40m (£34m), according to CIES Football Observatory – who slots in ahead of Van de Ven in a deep-lying midfield berth.

Despite enduring a tough season at Camp Nou last time out, in which he started just seven league games, the 6 foot maestro had sparkled during his five-year stint in Milan prior to that, proving an "invaluable" part of the team at San Siro, according to former boss Stefano Pioli.

An asset with an array of gifts, Pioli also described Kessie as the "complete player", while going on to state: “He gives us physicality, energy, quality, protects the defence and knits the moves going forward too. He has this eternally positive mentality during the matches, he's the first to help out a teammate or reassure them."

Having operated in a wide variety of roles throughout his career to date, the Ivorian's prior experience as a centre-back could well allow him to drop into a deeper position if Van de Ven looks to bomb forward from the heart of the defence, with the 6 foot 3 Dutchman regularly looking to carry the ball out from the back as he ranks in the top 10% among his European peers for progressive carries per 90.

As Pioli noted above, Kessie is a player who "protects the defence", ensuring that the 22-year-old would not be left exposed as he attempts to adapt to life in the Premier League, with the two men potentially able to help bolster a side that shipped 63 league goals last season – the sixth-worst record in the division.

Following what has been a quiet last few weeks in the transfer market for Tottenham following an early flurry of business, the arrival of the Barcelona machine and Van de Ven could well prove an exciting double deal with the new season now on the horizon.

Newcastle Could Sign Their Own Bale In ‘Top-class’ £50m Star

Newcastle United's summer transfer is up and running, with Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes enriching the ranks at St. James's Park; now, Southampton's Tino Livramento could be the next to make the move to Tyneside.

Does Tino Livramento have a buyback clause?

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are preparing to re-enter negotiations for the starlet after failing with their first offer, though Southampton are believed to be reluctant to sell one of their most coveted assets.

talkSPORT have also claimed that Saints will demand £50m for the 20-year-old full-back after turning down an initial £30m approach from the Magpies, and the completion of the deal now lies in whether a happy medium can be found between the respective clubs.

Having arrived at St. Mary's from Chelsea for just £5m in 2021, Livramento spent the majority of the 22/23 campaign on the sidelines, but with the Blues holding a £25m buyback clause, Southampton are demanding any further bids to eclipse that price

How good is Tino Livramento?

The five-cap England U21 international was a consistent performer for Southampton across the 21/22 campaign, earning an average Sofascore rating of 6.85 across his 28 Premier League appearances, completing 79% of his passes from his marauding role, averaging 1.9 tackles and 1.7 clearances and interceptions, and succeeding with 62% of his ground duels.

This level of precocity is exactly why Newcastle are so desperate to acquire his services, with England manager Gareth Southgate even heralding his "excellent" start to the campaign.

Livramento's former Saints teammate Theo Walcott was also left astounded by his development, even likening him to Gareth Bale, who came through the Saints youth academy before signing for Tottenham in a £12m deal in 2007.

Walcott said: "Do you know what, he reminds me a little bit of Gareth Bale when he came through as a full-back. That's a big statement of course to compare him to someone like that but just feel like his presence and the way he drives and the pace and the power and it's no surprises that you know what he's going to do."

Bale would go on to sign for Real Madrid in an £85m transfer in 2013 – a world record at the time – plundering 173 direct contributions from 258 matches and notably winning five Champions League trophies and three LaLiga titles.

It's a big call from Walcott to predict Livramento could emulate the former Wales international, but he boasts the skills to cement his stature as a "top-class" – as he has already been called by talent scout Jacek Kulig – flanker over the next decade.

Bale averaged 1.7 dribbles and 1.5 key passes per match across the duration of his career, as per WhoScored, and while Livramento only averaged 0.7 key passes and 1.1 dribbles across the 21/22 league term, there is clearly a base to his skill set that can be enhanced and shaped over the coming years.

Indeed, like the Saints youngster, Bale also started as a flying full-back becoming one of the game's great wide players. That is a path well trodden for players of a similar ilk in modern football, and Livarmento will hope he can tread along a similar path to success.

indeed, under Howe's wing at Newcastle, he could be placed into a thriving crop capable of unlocking his potential and guiding him into the top stratosphere of talent on the European stage.
